Jennifer Newsom runs two non-profit organizations focused on issues such as discrimination against women. Jennifer Newsom, wife of California's governor, criticized journalists at a press conference held in Sacramento on family planning. She accused the journalists, most of whom are women, of waging a 'terrible war on women' for not asking relevant questions. This attack was part of a media campaign launched by Jennifer Newsom after the governor's wife appeared in an article in 'Marie Claire' magazine, discussing her marriage and documentaries, as well as her husband's statement that she would be an 'extraordinary' first lady, while her husband, Gavin Newsom, continues to hint at a potential presidential run. Newsom said: 'I think she would be extraordinary in that role, even if she married someone else and ran for that office, so forget about me, that's all I'll say.' The couple appeared together at a press conference the day before to announce an 'urgent legislation' to grant $90 million to a family planning organization after cuts approved by President Donald Trump in the federal budget for the non-profit organization involved in maternal care. However, the governor's wife interrupted the question-and-answer session to berate journalists for asking questions about other topics, such as the troubled high-speed rail project and her husband's visit to the Munich Security Conference. Jennifer said: 'I find it unacceptable that we have a family planning organization, women make up 51% of the population, and most of these questions... actually, all of these questions were about other issues.' She added: 'This happens time and again, and we wonder why there is a terrible war on women in this country and these men get away with it because you (addressing the female journalists) don't seem to care.' These rebukes were not well-received by KCR radio correspondent and Sacramento Press Club President Ashley Zavala, who later in a video stated that questions at press conferences are often off-topic. Zavala explained: 'Such events are one of the few opportunities California journalists have to ask questions to Governor Gavin Newsom, and very often in such an atmosphere, the questions are off-topic.' Meanwhile, the governor's wife, in her extensive interview with 'Marie Claire' magazine, spoke about her past in 'Hollywood,' her family history, and her views on the Trump administration, with quotes from her husband, family friend and Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi, and her old friend Lily Reznik. She expressed her opinion on becoming America's First Lady. Jennifer said: 'It seems too early, but it's also important to stand up to the challenges in our country, so obviously I support it.' Jennifer Newsom confirmed that the position of First Lady is a 'great platform.' The California governor's wife runs two non-profit organizations: 'The Representation Project' and 'The California Partners Project,' which focus on issues such as discrimination against women and equal pay. Jennifer Newsom posts videos about self-care on Instagram, such as a clip suggesting her 'empathetic' colleagues walk, eat fresh food, and get enough sleep to deal with political division.
