NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated on Saturday that no one in Europe seeks to replace the American nuclear umbrella. According to him, European countries are fully dependent on the US nuclear potential for security. Rutte emphasized that nuclear deterrence remains a cornerstone of the alliance's defense policy. He also added that any discussion on the possibility of creating an independent European nuclear potential is premature and counterproductive. "We fully rely on the United States for nuclear deterrence, and this is not up for debate," Rutte noted. In his opinion, the current situation requires strengthening, not weakening, ties with Washington.
