Several F-22 fighter jets from the United States Air Force landed in Israel on Tuesday, having come from the United Kingdom as part of the U.S. military deployment in the Middle East in preparation for a potential attack on Iran. Israeli media reported on this deployment, which, according to the Times of Israel, consists of twelve aircraft that landed at an Israeli base in the south of the country. The fighters, this newspaper indicates, took off on the same Tuesday from the base at Lakenheath, in the United Kingdom, where they had been since last week due to, supposedly, problems with the refueling aircraft that accompanied them. Their landing comes two days before the talks between Iran and the United States, scheduled for Thursday in Geneva, in an attempt to reach an agreement to avoid a military intervention in the Asian country, and on the eve of the arrival in Tel Aviv of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on a two-day visit to Israel. The negotiations in Geneva will take place under the military threats of the United States, which has carried out the largest deployment since the invasion of Iraq in 2003, with two aircraft carriers, several destroyers, and dozens of fighter jets positioned in the vicinity of the Islamic Republic. Thursday's meeting will be the third round of indirect nuclear negotiations between the Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, and the White House's special envoy, Steve Witkoff, following two previous meetings in Oman and Geneva in which the Omani Foreign Minister, Badr bin Hamad al Busaidi, acted as an intermediary.
