Washington, D.C., March 5. The U.S. House of Representatives, controlled by Republicans, rejected a resolution on war powers aimed at curbing attacks by President Donald Trump against Iran. This came a day after a similar measure was defeated in the Senate. The lower chamber voted 212 to 219 to reject the resolution that sought to prevent Trump from ordering new military attacks against Iran without Congressional approval. According to Argentine news agency Noticias Argentinas, on Wednesday, the upper chamber, also controlled by Republicans, blocked the resolution with a vote of 53 to 47. Democrats generally criticize military attacks against Iran, while Republicans predominantly defend the president. "We cannot allow a would-be king to drag us into an endless war in the Middle East. Republicans can find billions for bombs, but nothing to lower the grocery bill or health care costs," said Hakeem Jeffries, the top House Democrat, in a message posted on X.
