Trump Sons Invest in Military Drone Production

Two sons of US President Donald Trump have backed a new business venture to produce autonomous drones with defensive systems, raising questions about conflict of interest amid Trump's leadership of the Iran war. According to a press release, Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. are described as prominent investors in the merger of 'Powers', a company specializing in autonomous drones, with publicly listed 'Orius Greenway Holdings', which manages golf courses in Florida. The new company, also named 'Powers', will manufacture autonomous drones 'for military and commercial use in high-risk environments', according to the company's press release, which considers the Middle East war proof of the project's viability. Orius Greenway Holdings President Matthew Saker stated: 'The need for autonomous technologies and their applications, such as those produced by (Powers), is making headlines due to ongoing developments in the Middle East and other regions.' He added that this business merger 'is becoming increasingly important in the current geopolitical uncertainty.' Jordan Lipowitz, vice president of the non-governmental organization 'Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics', described the 'Powers' project as 'shocking in an administration rife with conflicts of interest and suspicious.' Lipowitz said: 'This comes at a time when there is said to be an urgent need for a large number of drones due to the war that (Trump) partially ignited, and which will continue as long as the president wants it.' He added: 'This raises some concerns that the president may be dragging America into a war that could be profitable for his family.' Previously, Donald Trump Jr. had invested in another drone startup company, 'Anyoual Machines', which is also mentioned in the press release as a supporter of 'Powers' projects. The organization 'Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics' has previously issued several reports accusing the Trump administration of conflict of interest, including his family's investments in cryptocurrencies promoted by the White House.
