The U.S. Navy has decided to extend the service period of its oldest aircraft carrier, the USS Nimitz (CVN-68), for an additional ten months. This decision was made as part of plans to maintain fleet readiness. The USS Nimitz, commissioned in 1975, is a key element of U.S. naval power. Extending its service will allow the Navy to maintain its strategic superiority in the Pacific.
