U.S. Counterterrorism Chief Resigns Over Iran Conflict

Joe Kent, director of the U.S. National Counterterrorism Center, announced his resignation in protest against the war with Iran. Kent stated that he resigned due to the conflict with Iran. He served in the U.S. Army for 20 years, participated in 11 combat deployments, and then worked at the Central Intelligence Agency. U.S. President Donald Trump told reporters on Tuesday that Joe Kent's resignation as director of the National Counterterrorism Center is 'a good thing' because he is 'very weak on security', noting that he had previously assessed that Iran does not pose a threat. His former wife was killed in an explosion in Syria in 2019, and he currently lives with his wife Heather and two children.
