Former FBI Director Robert Mueller has passed away. His family announced his death in a statement. Mueller, who led the FBI from 2001 to 2013, became widely known for his investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 US presidential election. He was appointed as special counsel to examine ties between Donald Trump's campaign and Russia. The investigation concluded that Russia conducted a widespread campaign of interference, including social media disinformation and hacks, but did not establish a conspiracy between Trump's campaign and Moscow. Robert Mueller was born in New York in 1944. His family had previously announced last year that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. In response to the news of his death, Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social: "Robert Mueller just died. Well, I'm glad he's dead."
