The U.S. Department of State reported that Secretary Antony Blinken is heading to Paris and Berlin next week. In France and Germany, he will hold a series of meetings with colleagues and discuss security issues and other topics.
The main focus of the meetings will be on the situation in Afghanistan and the next steps following the withdrawal of troops from that country. They also plan to discuss the development of the situation in the region, including Ukraine, as well as other priorities of American foreign policy.
"We are proud that, together with our allies, we evacuated over 120,000 people from Afghanistan. Right now, our main task is to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe and support the Afghan people," noted Blinken.
