President Claudia Sheinbaum confirmed on Thursday that during her trip to Washington, where she will participate in the 2026 World Cup draw, she will have a 'small meeting' with US President Donald Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, marking their first in-person face-to-face meeting. 'We will have a small meeting with President Trump, and another with Prime Minister (Mark) Carney,' the head of state stated at her morning press conference, though she did not provide further details on the topics to be discussed. Sheinbaum specified that she will travel to Washington on Thursday evening on a plane from the Ministry of National Defense, as she would not have time to use commercial airlines. She also noted that the meeting with Trump and Carney will take place shortly before the start of the World Cup draw, which is co-hosted by Mexico, the United States, and Canada. 'After that, the event that lasts about four minutes, drawing the ball and seeing in which group, I think it is, we will head as Mexico,' she added.
