'LeBron James will wear a special 23rd-season patch starting tonight in Sacramento, the city where his legendary career began in 2003,' Topps, the collectibles company, announced in a statement. 'The patches will be removed from his jersey after each game, and some will be placed on ultra-rare collectible cards,' the company added. The patch is divided into four colors, representing James's career stages: Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, his return to the Cavaliers, and finally, his move to the Los Angeles Lakers. It also features the number 23, symbolizing his 23 seasons in the NBA, and a silhouette of James with his arms raised, reminiscent of the ceremony he performs before each game when he tosses magnesium into the air. The 41-year-old James will not be the only NBA player wearing such a patch.
