Argentinian Tennis Players Debut at Indian Wells Masters 1000

Argentinian tennis players Camilo Ugo Carabelli and Mariano Navone will debut this Wednesday at the Indian Wells Masters 1000, the first tournament of this category in the season. Both players' matches are scheduled for 4:00 PM local time (Argentina), marking the first match of the day. Both players will face tough tests against local opponents. Ugo Carabelli comes off a South American tour where his performance was inconsistent. He started with a strong title win at the Rosario Challenger and reached the quarterfinals at the Argentina Open, but was eliminated in his first match at both the ATP 500 in Rio and the ATP 250 in Santiago de Chile. His opponent in the first round of Indian Wells will be Martin Damm Jr., who, standing at over two meters tall, will look to impose his conditions on the fast courts to perform well and break into the ATP top 100. Navone, for his part, is going through a severe tennis crisis, having won only two matches so far in 2026. One of those wins was against American Emilio Nava at the Argentina Open, and the other came when Czech Vit Kopriva retired during their match at the ATP 250 in Santiago de Chile. Navone's debut in Indian Wells will be far from easy, as he will face American Marcos Giron, who is currently ranked in the top 70 of the ATP rankings. According to the Argentine News Agency, other Argentinians who will play in the first round of Indian Wells will be Sebastián Báez, Juan Manuel Cerúndolo, and Francisco Comesaña, while Francisco Cerúndolo (19th) and Tomás Etcheverry (29th) will debut in the second round as seeded players.
