Buenos Aires, March 18 (NA) – Argentine tennis players Camilo Ugo Carabelli and Mariano Navone will begin their campaigns this Wednesday at the Miami Masters 1000, contesting their respective first-round matches. The first to take the court will be Ugo Carabelli, who at 12:00 PM (Argentina time) will face a tough challenge against Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard. Perricard has one of the best serves on the circuit but gives away many points in play, as his forehand and backhand are practically amateur level. Ugo Carabelli comes off a South American tour that went from best to worst, starting with a title at the Rosario Challenger, followed by a quarterfinal loss at the Argentina Open, and then defeats in his appearances at the ATP 250 in Santiago, Chile, and the ATP 500 in Rio. Regarding Indian Wells, the first Masters 1000 of the season, 'El Brujo' lost in the second round to American Brandon Nakashima. Later, no earlier than 3:30 PM, it will be Navone's turn to face the tricky Georgian Nikoloz Basilashvili. After a disastrous start to 2026, Navone managed to recover at the Cap Cana Challenger, where he claimed the title by defeating Italian Mattia Bellucci in the final. According to Noticias Argentinas, the other five Argentines in the main draw of the Miami Masters 1000 will be Francisco Cerúndolo (18th), Tomás Etcheverry (29th), Sebastián Báez, Francisco Comesaña, and Thiago Tirante. Báez, Comesaña, and Tirante will all make their debuts this Thursday, playing against Australian Adam Walton, Chilean Alejandro Tabilo, and Frenchman Valentin Royer, respectively. Cerúndolo and Etcheverry, for their part, will begin in the second round as they are among the 32 seeded players.
