Microsoft plans to launch a controversial new update for its Teams application next December, which will allow organizations to determine whether an employee is working from the company's office or from anywhere else. According to the Microsoft 365 roadmap, the update automatically determines the work location as soon as an employee connects to the organization's Wi-Fi network. It also reveals any future changes in the work location upon connecting to any other Wi-Fi network. The company stated that the new update is "disabled by default", but system administrators in organizations can enable it if they wish. The update covers Windows and macOS systems and is still under development.
