The FBI has seized an exceptionally unique Mercedes-Benz linked to Canadian drug trafficker and former Olympic athlete Ryan Wedding, valued at over $13 million. The supercar, a two-seat CLK GTR Roadster, is one of only six believed to exist worldwide. The vehicle was built by Mercedes-Benz and AMG to compete in the 1997 GT1 Championship. The FBI announced the seizure in a social media post, stating the car was confiscated in Los Angeles as part of an operation to dismantle Wedding's criminal network. Wedding, a 44-year-old former snowboarder who competed for Canada in the 2002 Winter Olympics, was arrested in the U.S. in 2008 on drug trafficking charges and sentenced to 48 months in prison. U.S. authorities believe his network distributes 60 tons of cocaine annually in the U.S. and is linked to several murders. Wedding, who is considered a "modern Pablo Escobar," is believed to be hiding in Mexico, and the FBI is offering a $15 million reward for information leading to his capture or conviction.
