The website highlights the contributions of wealthy individuals to multiple charitable institutions, such as MacKenzie Scott's $70 million donation to the UNCF fund in September. French Gates had co-founded and co-chaired the Gates Foundation with Bill Gates before leaving in June 2024. She currently manages Pivotal Ventures, a collection of charitable organizations focused on women's issues. Melinda French Gates stated that billionaires are not giving enough of their money, emphasizing that those who have benefited from the business environment in the United States must 'give much more than they are doing.' Gates had co-founded 'The Giving Pledge' initiative in 2010 with Bill Gates and Warren Buffett. The ex-wife of Bill Gates said that some signatories to the pledge—which encourages billionaires to donate a significant portion of their wealth—contribute money 'on a massive scale,' but she added: 'But have they given enough? No,' according to a report published by Business Insider. She pointed out that those who have amassed 'vast fortunes' have benefited from the U.S. education system, regulatory environment, and venture capital system. 'They should give more… much more than they are doing,' she said. Gates did not name any specific individuals. The Giving Pledge website states that 250 people from 30 countries have joined the initiative, including: Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Larry Ellison, and venture capitalist Reid Hoffman. 'I believe that to whom much is given, much is expected.' French Gates's net worth is estimated at $17.2 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. In an interview with Wired, Gates said: 'If you live in this country and you started a business, you have benefited from this country.'
