The e-commerce platform Joopiter, owned by artist Pharrell Williams, has put up for auction the iconic Nike Kobe 6 'Grinch' sneakers that Kobe Bryant wore in the 2010 Christmas game against the Miami Heat's LeBron James. The minimum bid price is set at 10 million dollars.
The green, scale-like footwear was originally the reason for Bryant's 'Green Mamba' nickname, but their Christmas debut earned them the colloquial name 'Grinch,' after the furry, green creature from literature who dislikes the festive season.
Caitlin Donovan, the platform's global sales director, told EFE that the minimum sale price is 10 million dollars. The autographed sneakers were displayed this week alongside other Bryant collectibles in a Beverly Hills (California) store for potential buyers to see.
In his only appearance wearing these sneakers, Bryant scored 17 points in a game where his Lakers lost 80-96 to the Heat of James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh at the Staples Center (now Crypto.com Arena).
Last August, a signed card of Bryant and Michael Jordan was auctioned for over 12.9 million dollars by Heritage Auctions, a record amount for such a card in the United States, making it the second-most expensive sports collectible of all time.
