U.S. President Donald Trump met with oil company executives at the White House to discuss the reconstruction of Venezuela's oil sector. 'Russia can get from us all the oil they need,' he said. The meeting with top executives of major multinational oil companies like Chevron, Exxon, Spanish Repsol, and Italian Eni comes after the capture of Venezuela's ousted president, Nicolás Maduro, by U.S. forces and the announcement that Washington would handle the commercialization of millions of barrels of that nation's crude under a pact with its interim government. The Republican, who had already promised to negotiate with oil companies the revitalization of the 'severely deteriorated' hydrocarbons industry in Venezuela, warned that if Washington had not taken control of Venezuelan oil, 'China would have entered there and Russia would have entered there there.' Trump added that he expects oil companies to build new facilities rather than just 'a simple renewal.' 'I hope they build it all completely new, that they remove the old junk that has been there for so many years and that they do it the right way. China can buy from us all the oil they want, there (in Venezuela) or in the United States.'
