New Members Join Latin Recording Academy Board

The Latin Recording Academy has announced the appointment of new board members, including industry veterans Gabriel Abaroa, Pedro Blanco, and Gustavo Borner, to promote and celebrate Latin music globally.


New Members Join Latin Recording Academy Board

The Latin Recording Academy has announced the addition of new members to its Board of Directors, who will serve for the next three years. Eduardo Hütt, chair of the Board of Directors of the institution, expressed his enthusiasm for working with the newcomers in the growth and evolution of the organization.

Gabriel Abaroa, Jr., former president and CEO of The Latin Academy (2002-2021), co-founder of Incurator LLC, and member of the Recording Academy and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame; Pedro Blanco, CEO of Blanco-Lorenz with vast experience in the industry; Gustavo Borner, producer and sound engineer who has won six GRAMMYs® and 14 Latin GRAMMYs; Rafael Fernández, Jr., senior vice president of RIAA; Chelsey Green, musician and educator; Jorge Hernández-Toraño, attorney specializing in entertainment law; and Berta Rojas, recognized classical guitarist, are the new members of the Board.

Regarding the addition, Hütt commented: “Each of them has played key roles within the music industry, and I am excited to work with them on the growth and evolution of our organization.”

These professionals will be responsible for steering the organization and continuing to promote the growth and recognition of Latin music globally. With these appointments, The Latin Recording Academy reaffirms its commitment to promoting Latino talent and its impact on the international music industry.

The outgoing Board members, to whom thanks were extended, are: Luis Álvarez-Fiol, Eduardo Bergallo, Paty Cantú, Alexandra Lioutikoff, Rico Love, Rafa Sardina, and Manuel Tejada, for their work in strengthening the Latin music community. The increasingly global chair requires leaders who truly represent the diverse musical community.
