Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone will produce a film about the popular character Miss Piggy from 'The Muppets'. Lawrence announced the project in an interview on the podcast 'las Culturistas'. The script will be written by comedian and writer Cole Escola, who this year won a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play for the historical comedy 'Oh, Mary!', an award he achieved in his Broadway debut. Disney has begun developing a film about the diva of the Muppets, a pig who became an essential character alongside Kermit the Frog, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo, or Rizzo the Rat. 'I don't know if I can announce this, but Emma Stone and I are producing a movie about the pig Peggy, and Cole is writing it,' Lawrence revealed. When asked if she and Stone would star in the film, she did not confirm it outright and simply said, 'I think so.' 'The Muppets' aired from 1976 to 1981 and was a very popular program worldwide. Later, special episodes were made—the last in 2020—and Henson's puppets jumped to the cinema, in films such as 'The Muppet Movie' (1979), 'The Muppets Take Manhattan' (1984), 'The Muppets' (2011), or 'Muppets Most Wanted' (2014).
