New York, Nov 25 (EFE).- Romeo Santos' new album, 'Better late than never,' is a full collaboration with Prince Royce, the bachata artists revealed in an interview with Billboard published this Tuesday. The singers, born in The Bronx (New York) of Dominican origin, said they have spent years secretly working on their first major musical collaboration, as they had previously recorded three songs together but never released them. "We didn't go to public studios, everything was recorded on vacation: we were in a villa with friends and family, in my studio at my home in New York," they stated. "We also visited his house many times," highlighted Santos, who says the idea came from Royce "seven years ago." Santos, 44, known as the 'King of Bachata,' and Royce, 36, known as the 'Prince of Bachata,' even used the code names Batman and Robin when recording music and music videos, and neither their friends nor family knew about the project, they affirmed. The album, which translates to 'Better late than never' and alludes to their long-awaited union, consists of 13 tracks where bachata is queen but there is a "fusion" with genres like pop, 'afrobeat' or tropical sound and instruments like violin and guitar, Royce points out. Santos and Royce wrote four songs together: 'Better late than never,' 'Mi plan,' 'Jezabel,' and 'Loquita por mí,' and the rest are signed by the first with the help of the second, giving rise to musical proposals that "neither has offered to fans before," indicated Santos. Other songs mentioned in the article are 'Dardos,' which has R&B influence; 'Ay San Miguel,' which is a Dominican 'palo,' and 'Menor,' which is a collaboration with Dalvin La Melodía. Apart from that, they opened the door to a world tour that would be a "journey" through the musical repertoires of both: "When it happens, God willing, we don't want it to be a 'show' where he comes out, sings his songs, and I sing mine," said Santos. As a prelude to the release, which will be on November 28, Santos will hold an album listening party this Wednesday at Madison Square Garden in New York.
