Bachata stars Romeo Santos and Prince Royce captivated the night on Wednesday at a sold-out Madison Square Garden in New York during the first listening party for their collaborative album "Better late than never" and were rewarded with a medley of their greatest hits. True to the album's title, "better late than never," the American singers of Dominican origin kept the waiting crowd for over two hours, but were met with cheers as anticipation built for this project they have worked on in complete secrecy for about seven years. The "King" and "Prince" of bachata demonstrated their personal and professional chemistry as they moved across a stage decorated like a typical city street where they both grew up, complete with a subway car, benches, a DJ booth, and a view of the Brooklyn Bridge in the background. "It's a little weird to be singing songs you don't know," Santos said with a laugh, mimicking the puzzled faces of the audience during the so-called 'listening party,' a format that is increasingly popular for music releases, for which tickets were only available through radio contests and promotions. However, with great energy, plenty of humor, and playful calls to the Latin women who attended in large numbers, Santos and Royce warmed up the crowd while explaining in detail each of the thirteen songs on the album, which will be released for sale tomorrow, November 28.
