Marvel Studios Announces 'Avengers: Endgame' Re-Release

Marvel Studios announced the re-release of 'Avengers: Endgame' in theaters starting September 25, 2026. This move is designed to build hype for 'Avengers: Doomsday' and reclaim the film's title as the highest-grossing movie globally.

Marvel Studios Announces 'Avengers: Endgame' Re-Release

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige had made it clear since CinemaCon 2024 that the company has no intention of abandoning theaters. "We make movies for the cinema because that's where they should be seen," Feige stated. Marvel Studios has activated one of its strongest moves in years by announcing the re-release of 'Avengers: Endgame' in theaters. According to the Argentine News Agency, one of the most successful films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will return to the big screen starting September 25, 2026. This move aims to build hype before the arrival of 'Avengers: Doomsday,' scheduled for December 18 of the same year. Released in April 2019, the movie was a massive success across all fronts. Additionally, with the re-release, the studio aims to make the film the highest-grossing in the world once again, a position it lost after 'Avatar' was re-released in theaters. The new Marvel film will integrate characters from franchises like 'Thunderbolts,' 'Fantastic Four,' and 'X-Men,' marking an epic moment for the franchise following the reunion of the three Spider-Men—Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire—in 'No Way Home.' Following the announcement, Disney also adjusted several titles on its calendar, confirming the release of 'Super Troopers 3' for August 7, 2026, advancing the reissue of 'Star Wars: A New Hope' to February 19, 2027, and moving the release date of the next untitled 'Simpsons' film to September 3, 2027. This strategy also marks the return of directors Joe and Anthony Russo to work with actor Robert Downey Jr., who will make a complete franchise shift by portraying the villain Doctor Doom after having embodied Tony Stark for over a decade. The plan goes beyond a simple re-release, serving as a direct message to the industry during a transitional period. This news came alongside the confirmation of Warner Bros.' acquisition by Netflix, which will now have the films of its most direct competitor: the DC Universe. The choice of 'Avengers: Endgame' as a flagship is no coincidence, as it is one of the most powerful phenomena in cinema history.
