'Zootopia 2' continues to lead the global box office

Disney's animated sequel 'Zootopia 2' continues to reign at the worldwide box office, having now accumulated $915.7 million, with $359 million of that earned this past weekend. With this figure, the film ranks fourth in the annual box office, behind only the Chinese film 'Ne Zha 2' ($1.902 billion), 'Lilo & Stitch' ($1.037 billion), and 'A Minecraft Movie' ($957 billion), in a year clearly dominated by children's cinema. Following 'Zootopia 2', the horror film 'Five Nights at Freddy’s 2' made a strong entry this weekend, earning $109 million worldwide, according to data from the specialized website Box Office Mojo. Third place went to another sequel, 'Wicked: For Good'. The musical adaptation based on 'The Wizard of Oz' has reached $440 million, still far from the $758 earned by the first part of this story starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo. Another animated film, 'Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution', took the fourth spot at the box office in its first weekend in theaters, with $40.3 million. Rounding out the top five for the weekend is 'Now You See Me, Now You Don’t', which has already earned $209 million since its release three weeks ago.
