George Clooney Says Goodbye to Leading Man Roles

American actor George Clooney, 64, is saying goodbye to his days as a leading man on the big screen. According to the deal he claims to have reached with his wife, Lebanese lawyer Amal Clooney, he does not plan to kiss any more actresses in his films. In an interview with the Daily Mail, he states that he made the decision after a conversation with his wife, whom he married in 2014 and has twins with. "I've been trying to follow the same path as Paul Newman — 'Well, I'm not going to kiss any more girls,'" adds the star of films like 'O Brother, Where Art Thou?' (2000) and 'Ocean's Eleven' (2001), or the series 'ER', which catapulted him to international fame. The director of films such as 'Good Night and Good Luck' (2005) is not the first time he has spoken about his intention to step back from romantic films. As Variety recalls, in March he told the US program 60 Minutes that he wanted to make way for new generations: "Look, I'm 63 years old. I'm not trying to compete with leading men who are 25. That's not my job."
