This marks Carey's second time breaking her own record for the longest-running No. 1 on the Hot 100. The song, originally released in 1994, has also tied the record for the most weeks spent on the chart overall, with 77 weeks, matching Dua Lipa's "Levitating." The Billboard Hot 100 combines streaming data from all genres in the U.S. The chart also includes data from official audio and video, radio airplay, and sales. According to the magazine, after its initial release, the song first entered the top 10 in December 2017. It first reached No. 1 in 2019 and has since consistently dominated the chart during the holiday seasons of 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024. Previously, in 1995-1996, Carey's other song "One Sweet Day" with Boyz II Men held the No. 1 spot for 16 weeks.
