According to local authorities, the incident occurred on January 14th at the «Poke Court» store located at 412 West 13th Street in the Meatpacking District. Police responded to an emergency call reporting that three masked men had stormed the store. An employee informed «iWitness News» that goods exceeding one hundred thousand dollars were stolen during the robbery. The store management is currently considering hiring an armed guard, following recommendations from the police and other local businesses. The suspects, who were carrying backpacks decorated with anime character art, held all shoppers inside the store during the theft. They were armed with a pistol and hammers. The employee noted that the store had only opened in November and was packed with over forty customers attending its first community event when the thieves struck. The robbery took only three minutes. The store specializes in Pokémon cards and merchandise, as well as selected art pieces. Store owner Courtney Chen stated she has a detailed list of the stolen items and hopes insurance will cover the losses. She confirmed the store is equipped with alarm systems and will contact the security company to verify their effectiveness.
