Plane Crashes at Bangor Airport

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) stated that a private plane crashed and caught fire on takeoff from an airport in the state of Maine, with eight people on board, but their fate and identities are not yet known. The FAA added in a statement that the accident involving the twin-engine jet Bombardier Challenger 600 occurred yesterday at Bangor International Airport around 7:45 p.m. (0045 GMT today). No official details have been provided, but a government official familiar with the matter told Reuters that a large fire broke out after the crash. The official said the plane had arrived in Maine after a flight from Texas. FAA records show the plane entered service in April 2020. The FAA announced it will investigate the incident in cooperation with the National Transportation Safety Board.
