Thief Trapped in Truck After Attempting to Steal Gardening Equipment in Florida

An attempt to steal expensive gardening equipment from inside a landscaping truck led to a severe punishment for the thief when he found himself trapped inside. A doorbell camera in a home in Hialeah (Florida) captured the theft attempt on February 18th. While landscaping workers were busy, a suspect later identified as 26-year-old Dean Young sneaked into the back of a landscaping truck. The homeowner told WSVN: «(The thief's) car stopped in the middle of the street, and the driver got into the truck (from the back) and tried to steal the items». However, moments later, the landscaping worker returned without realizing anything was wrong and locked the truck tightly, leaving Young trapped inside. The police later said this was the best arrest they had made recently. The landscaping worker stated he was busy with his work when he pressed the lock button on his keys, a habit he had due to a previous theft of his truck. He added that he was glad no one was injured and that his truck suffered only minor damage. Young was charged with attempted theft and criminal mischief and remains in jail. At that moment, the suspect began kicking and hitting the truck doors, trying to free himself and shouting: «Help me!». However, the landscaping worker kept Young trapped until the police arrived and arrested him.
