Sabrina Carpenter's Cultural Misunderstanding at Coachella

The audience's reaction at Sabrina Carpenter's concert led to a misunderstanding. During her performance, some members of the audience made a cry known as "Zaghrouta", a traditional form of expression in Arab cultures used during celebrations and festive events. Initially, Sabrina Carpenter interpreted the sound as a negative reaction to her performance. Later, she wrote on social media: "Now I know what a Zaghrouta is! I welcome all cheers and yodels from here on out." With this message, Carpenter sought to acknowledge the misunderstanding and show openness to different forms of cultural expression at her concerts. However, criticism from the public did not subside but intensified. Comments appeared such as: "You literally asked if it was their culture and then said you didn't like it", "Fear of being canceled?", "No matter how weird something seems to me, if someone tells me it's part of their culture, I'd say 'cool'", "The disgust on your face is clear, don't act like it was just confusion". In her post, the singer apologized: "My apologies, I didn't see this person directly and couldn't hear clearly. My reaction was pure confusion and sarcasm, with no ill intent. I could have handled it better!"
