The entrepreneur bets on SpaceX's spaceship technology to transport people and equipment into space and establish a self-sufficient Martian colony. Musk dreams of humanity becoming multi-planetary and believes that to achieve this, it is necessary to utilize the resources available on Mars, such as producing oxygen from the planet's atmosphere.
Musk's ambitious project includes the goal of populating Mars with at least one million people by the year 2054. According to his schedule, the first unmanned mission to Mars would launch in 2028, followed by the first manned mission in 2030 and the establishment of permanent bases in 2035. Between 2040 and 2050, Mars colonization is expected to gain momentum with the development of self-sufficient cities and a permanent population on the red planet.
On October 13, SpaceX achieved a significant milestone by successfully landing the 71-meter Super Heavy booster, marking a landmark in Musk's Mars colonization project. These tests are yielding encouraging results, which have raised expectations for cheaper and more efficient space travel to transport resources and people to Mars.
