American Arrested for Killing British Tourist Who Sought a Killer

American police have arrested a man named Dwayne Hall on charges of killing a British tourist, Sonia Exelby, only for investigations to reveal that the woman came to the United States with the intention of finding someone willing to kill her. According to WCJB, the case took a strange turn when investigators' reports revealed the police's belief that Exelby traveled to the U.S. because she wanted someone to 'kill her violently.' The television channel reported that she landed at Gainesville Regional Airport in Florida in October and then disappeared. Hall had previously been imprisoned for charges of credit card fraud and illegal use of a two-way communication device. Officials in the UK informed Florida investigators that Exelby 'was suffering from psychological problems and had suicidal tendencies.' They believe she planned to travel to Florida to meet people who might kill her violently, according to WCJB, which added that police believe she was stabbed four times. According to the television channel, police claim to have obtained a video showing Exelby with bruises and Hall asking her if she wanted to be hurt. To this, she 'nodded her head in affirmation' but seemed hesitant and 'clearly distressed.' She later sent a message to a friend expressing her regret, adding: 'He made it clear to me that shooting him was inevitable.' These charges were linked to the fraudulent use of the victim's credit cards, according to the statement. 'I was doubting it last night... I thought he would do it quickly and not torment me,' WFTV channel reported. Hall claimed that Exelby 'requested to be tortured and killed.' It is alleged that Hall told authorities that he met Exelby on a website and that 'she wanted to be killed,' according to the channel. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) announced on November 17 that the agency 'arrested Dwayne Hall, 53, of Ocala, on charges of first-degree murder and kidnapping in the case of a missing woman from the United Kingdom,' according to a press release. On Monday, October 13, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) received a request for assistance in an investigation from UK authorities via Interpol regarding a missing and threatened woman from England, according to the statement. The statement added: 'The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) investigation concluded that the woman missed her scheduled flight back to England the afternoon of October 13. Within days, personnel from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Jacksonville Regional Operations Center and the Marion County Sheriff's Office located human remains in Marion Oaks on Friday, October 17.' The statement continued: 'The remains were identified as those of the missing woman from England, and further examinations determined her death to be a homicide.' On Monday, November 17, agents and investigators from the Marion County Sheriff's Office arrested Hall on charges of first-degree murder and kidnapping.
