Los Angeles police shot a man who was allegedly using a large piece of glass to harm himself in the Koreatown area last Friday morning. Los Angeles police officers told CBS Los Angeles that they were called to the 800 block of South Vermont Street around 7:15 a.m. after receiving reports of an assault with a deadly weapon. Upon arrival, they encountered a man in his 30s, whom they said was using broken glass to stab himself in the neck. Shortly after approaching the man, the officers opened fire on him. The man, whose identity has not been released, was taken to a hospital in critical condition. Officers did not specify if his injuries were from stab wounds or gunshot wounds. Additionally, police did not explain why they shot a man who was initially harming himself, although officers stated they sensed some threat. Police also reported no other injuries in the incident.
