USA Sends Over 6,000 kg of Medical Supplies to Venezuela

Washington, Feb 13 (EFE). - The U.S. State Department announced this Friday that it has sent over 6,000 kilograms of priority medical supplies to Venezuela. This action is part of Washington's program for the transition in the Caribbean country following the ousting of Nicolás Maduro. "By order of President (Donald) Trump, the U.S. sent today by plane the first 25 pallets (more than 6,000 kilograms) of priority medical supplies to the Venezuelan people as part of the administration's three-phase plan for the stabilization, recovery, and transition of Venezuela," stated U.S. State Department Deputy Spokesperson Tommy Pigott in a press release. These critical medicines are intended for Venezuelans across the country who require urgent medical care and constitute "the first shipment of a significant effort to increase the supply of critical medical supplies to Venezuela." Washington believes these shipments will help stabilize Venezuela's healthcare system, which "will attract responsible private sector investment and help Venezuela move toward greater self-sufficiency, in line with our approach of promoting trade, not aid." "The U.S. continues to work with the interim authorities of Venezuela to execute our three-phase plan to support Venezuela's economic recovery and political reconciliation. This delivery drives the country's transition toward a stable, prosperous, and democratic Venezuela that serves as a market for U.S. products and innovations in our region," the document concludes.
