On Monday, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced that he personally will take over leadership of the U.S. Agency for International Development to end its "disagreement" with President Donald Trump's administration.
Pompeo said: "This is an important step to ensure that USAID has a unified structural focus on its strategic priorities and that it fully supports the Trump administration."
Pompeo, who also serves as the Director of the CIA, assumed the responsibility of Chairing the Association for International Development after the resignation of the chair of six management committees at USAID in protest against its new leadership.
