Officials in Donald Trump's administration sent mixed signals on Friday regarding the prospects of reaching a ceasefire agreement. The conflicting messages have raised questions about the future of peace efforts.


Trump Administration Signals on Ceasefire Discussions

Officials from the administration of Donald Trump expressed opposing views regarding the prospect of achieving a ceasefire on Friday. Earlier, U.S. envoy Kelly Craft supported an agreement to cease hostilities that had been reached between Azerbaijan and Armenia. However, after that, Secretary Mike Pompeo stated that Washington does not see a path to resolving the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh.

In addition, independent American analyst on security and conflicts in Europe and Eurasia Guy Poll conducted that the U.S. is not involved in the current process of peacekeeping in the region.

According to Craft, the U.S. is actively participating in seeking ways to a ceasefire and stabilization of the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh. However, Pompeo stated that the U.S. "currently does not see a path to resolution" and called for adherence to relevant agreements on the limitation of conflict.
