US President Donald Trump stated that he renovated the bathroom in the Lincoln Bedroom, named after former President Abraham Lincoln, thus leaving his mark on the White House. This is not his first renovation: previously, he demolished the East Wing, landscaped the Rose Garden, and decorated the Oval Office in gold. Trump revealed the renovated bathroom via social media yesterday, showcasing its black and white marble finish. The Republican president is facing criticism from environmental advocates and Democrats for imposing his Mar-a-Lago resort style on the historic building. In his post, which included two photos of the bathroom before and after the renovation, Trump wrote: "I renovated the Lincoln Bathroom in the White House. It was last renovated in the 1940s with decorative green tilework, which was entirely unsuitable for the Lincoln era." He added: "I renovated it with polished white and black marble. This is perfectly suitable for the era of Abraham Lincoln, and in fact, this might be the original marble!". The White House has yet to respond to questions about whether the bathroom renovation project underwent official design or approval procedures. Last month, Trump unexpectedly demolished the White House's East Wing to build an 8,360-square-meter ballroom, and for this, he was criticized for not properly reviewing the demolition before execution. US presidents have made changes to their living rooms over the decades, but Trump, a former real estate mogul from New York, sought to make major changes to the White House with exceptional enthusiasm.
