New York, Nov 3 (EFE). - U.S. President Donald Trump said this Sunday that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids «have not gone far enough» and defended the violent tactics used by his agents to «get people out» of the U.S.

In an interview on CBS's '60 Minutes,' Trump was asked if the raids had gone too far, citing videos showing ICE agents pushing a woman to the ground, using tear gas in a residential area, and breaking a car's windows.

«No, I don't think they've gone far enough because we've been held back by the judges, the liberal judges that (Democratic presidents) Biden and Obama put in,» he stated.

Subsequently, when asked if he approved of the tactics seen in the videos, he said yes, «because you have to get the people out,» and noted that «many are killers,» resorting to one of the arguments for his mass deportation campaign, in which he broadly criminalizes immigrants.

However, when pressed about the arrest and deportation of undocumented immigrants who are not criminals, he dodged directly saying if that is the «intent» of his government, and declared: «We have to start with a policy, and the policy must be: you came into the country illegally, you are going to leave.»

Trump also avoided setting a target in his immigration policy that would allow him to «declare mission accomplished» due to his estimate that there are 25 million undocumented immigrants in the U.S., a figure he has repeated previously and for which he provides no proof.

When questioned about the deportations of essential workers, which are affecting the labor market in several states, Trump initially commented that they were «criminal gardeners,» before later stating that he needs «gardeners and farmers more than anyone else.»
