New York City Mayoral Election: Race Favorites

On Tuesday, New York City held mayoral elections. By the afternoon of that day, over one million New Yorkers had already cast their votes, setting a record for non-presidential elections in the city. The main candidates are Democrat Zohran Mamdani and independent Andrew Cuomo. Cuomo served as Governor of New York three times between 2011 and 2021 before resigning amid sexual harassment allegations. If Mamdani, 34, wins, he will become the second-youngest mayor in New York City's history and the first Muslim mayor. His father, Mario Cuomo, also served as governor of the state for three terms. Other candidates include Republican Curtis Sliwa, Conservative Irene Estrada, and independent Joseph Hernández.
