Speaking at a Democratic Party event in Omaha, Nebraska, on Friday evening, Biden said, 'I knew Trump would bring a wrecking ball to the country, but I have to admit, I didn't know there was an actual wrecking ball.' Biden was referring to Trump's plans to demolish part of the White House to build an event hall. Biden addressed Trump directly, stating that he has brought shame to the country with his behavior and placed the interests of the wealthy above those of ordinary Americans. He described the Democrats' victories in the recent gubernatorial elections in New Jersey and Virginia and the mayoral election in New York City as 'bright spots in a very dark moment,' adding that the American people sent a message to Trump through these results. Trump had previously stated that his plans for the hall 'would not affect the current building'.
