The United States has called on NATO countries to stop buying Russian oil and energy products to help end the war in Ukraine. This has increased pressure on alliance members, such as Turkey, despite its efforts to reduce its energy bill, Bloomberg news agency reported yesterday. According to Bloomberg, citing a U.S. State Department statement, both U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio conveyed this message during a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan the day before yesterday. Turkey is the third-largest buyer of Russian oil after China and India.
