Trump Suggests Possible Talks with Maduro

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced that there "could be conversations" between his administration and Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, stating that "Venezuela wants to talk" within the framework of Washington's military deployment in the Caribbean. The U.S. leader, cited by international agencies, considered that due to Venezuela's interest, "we could have conversations with Maduro and see how it turns out." "It allows us to do that, but we haven't said we're going to do that, and we could talk with Venezuela," he assured. "I talk to anyone, we'll see what happens," he mentioned. The head of the White House, in response to journalists' questions, acknowledged that this designation "allows" Washington to attack Maduro's assets or infrastructure within Venezuela, but clarified that he has not said he will do such a thing. "They want to talk," he affirmed this Sunday in a dialogue with the press at Palm Beach International Airport in the state of Florida, as learned by the Argentine News Agency. Trump spoke shortly after the State Department's announcement that, as of next week, the Cartel of the Suns will be designated as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO), a group that Washington links to Maduro, although the latter's government calls it "a fabrication." According to what Argentine News Agency was able to learn, the U.S. president did not specify a date for the talks or who would lead them, and emphasized that it is Venezuela that "would like to talk," although he does not know what it is about.
