US President Donald Trump, in an interview, spoke about his support for Argentine leader Javier Milei, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.

Trump Announces Support for Milei and Praises Erdoğan

US President Donald Trump stated that he supported leaders of different countries in their country's elections and cited the case of Javier Milei in Argentina, who “won with a landslide victory”.

“I supported… going back to South America, Latin America… South America, to Milei, Argentina,” Trump said. “I told him: ‘You have to release them,’ and he did.”

He then moved on to the case of his “friend” Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the president of Turkey, and stated: “He is my friend.” In fact, I like him very much.

“Whenever (European leaders) have a problem with Erdoğan, they ask me to call him because they can't talk to him. He's a tough guy. But they have a hard time dealing with him, so they ask me to call him. He… he is very different from many other leaders, but they have a hard time with him. He was losing the election, and I supported him, and he won with a landslide victory,” Trump emphasized.

The American president made these remarks in an interview with Politico (which Argentine News Agency captured in its usual tour of international headlines), when he was asked if he would “consider getting involved” in any of those elections in other countries “to put leaders he thinks are more suitable.”

Praise for Orbán from Hungary

“Well, I would support… I have supported people, but people that many Europeans don't like,” Trump explained. He mentioned Hungary: “It has no sea, so it cannot receive ships with energy.”

He also added that the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had asked for a US-backed financial shield worth up to 20 billion dollars.

“I think he is doing a very good job in a different sense with immigration. His country has no sea outlet,” Trump concluded.
