Washington - (Reuters) The U.S. Senate approved a massive bill by a huge majority on Wednesday that authorizes $901 billion in spending for the Department of Defense (Pentagon) and sent it to the White House, which said President Donald Trump would sign it into law. The legislation authorizes a record $901 billion in annual military spending, which includes a four percent pay raise for troops, purchases of military hardware, and efforts to boost competitiveness with the United States' top adversaries, China and Russia. The Senate approved the bill by a vote of 77. The National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal year 2026 represents a compromise version passed separately by the Senate and the House of Representatives this year.
