U.S. President Donald Trump flew at least eight times with the pedophile Jeffrey Epstein on his private jet in the 1990s, including one occasion when he traveled only with Epstein and a 20-year-old woman. This is indicated by a new batch of thousands of unpublished files on the Epstein case that the U.S. Department of Justice published Monday evening but appears to have subsequently deleted, and which The Washington Post managed to download before they were no longer available. Unlike those published last Saturday, the new files include several mentions of Trump, who has tried to distance himself as much as possible from Epstein and his crimes, the U.S. newspaper reported Tuesday. "I want you to know that the flight logs we received yesterday reflect that Donald Trump traveled on Epstein's private jet many more times than had been reported (or than we were aware of)," wrote a federal prosecutor for the Southern District of New York in an email in January 2020, which is included in the files. The prosecutor wrote that Trump flew on that plane at least eight times between 1993 and 1996, specifying that this period coincides with the one investigated in connection with the accomplice and former partner of Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell, who coincided with the now-president on at least four of those flights. In some cases, the prosecutor added, those traveling on the plane could serve as witnesses in the case against Maxwell, who was convicted in 2021 to 20 years in prison for sex trafficking of minors. FBI leads and a subpoena to Mar-a-Lago The documents also reveal that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) gathered several leads on the relationship between Trump and Epstein during parties at their respective properties in the early 2000s, although they do not confirm if there were subsequent investigations. In addition, the files show that the Maxwell case investigators sent a court subpoena in 2021 to Mar-a-Lago, Trump's mansion and private club in West Palm Beach (Florida), according to The Post. The reason for that subpoena is not entirely clear, but the documents do indicate that a federal prosecutor was seeking documents about people who worked at Trump's club who could be relevant to the case against Maxwell. "I have not been able to locate anyone who recalls [redacted] working at Mar-a-Lago in the year 2000," wrote that prosecutor in an email included among the new papers. The new batch of files also includes a 22-page letter from the criminal division of the U.S. Department of Justice to UK authorities, in which they request a voluntary interview with "Witness PA," referring to Prince Andrew. King Charles III of the United Kingdom stripped his brother Andrew of the title of prince and other distinctions in November, fallen from grace for his past link to Epstein and his questionable business activities. The Department of Justice launched a website last Friday to consult the Epstein investigation documents, who committed suicide in prison in 2019, after the approval by Congress of a law that obliges the government to disclose all unclassified information from the case.
