New York, Jan 12 (EFE). - U.S. President Donald Trump posted on Sunday on Truth Social an edited image of his Wikipedia profile, in which he attributes himself the position of 'interim president of Venezuela' as of January 2026. Trump has on other occasions posted edited images or videos generated by artificial intelligence (AI) with the apparent aim of stirring controversy, and the official Wikipedia page showed no change and indicated his real position, that of President of the U.S. This Sunday, the head of state said he hopes to visit Venezuela and meet with the acting president, Delcy Rodriguez, 'at some point,' and assured that the U.S. 'is getting along very well' with the country's leadership after the capture of Nicolas Maduro. In statements to journalists aboard the presidential plane, he reiterated his threats to Rodriguez and assured that 'she would probably face a situation like Maduro's' if she does not cooperate with the U.S. 'She asked (us) if we could take 50 million barrels of oil and I told her, yes, we can,' Trump added. 'Now he is arriving in the United States,' Trump added, who intends to revitalize the oil sector in Venezuela and market part of its crude. Trump also spoke about Maduro, who was captured on January 3 in a U.S. military operation in Caracas along with his wife Cilia Flores and was transferred with her to New York, where both are accused of drug trafficking and corruption. He stated that Maduro raised his hands and surrendered, declaring that it was 'the right thing to do,' and that he received information he did not want to reveal about the leader's first night in the Brooklyn detention center, known for its harsh conditions. Likewise, he expressed his confidence in the judge overseeing the case against Maduro, 92-year-old Alvin Hellerstein, in a federal court in New York. 'The case is infallible,' the president added about the accusation of narco-terrorism and other crimes against Maduro, whom he attributed the death of 'millions and millions of people,' according to the information from the group of journalists on the presidential plane. Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, present on the plane, added that Maduro 'chose to challenge Trump and the U.S. Army and his butt is in jail, where he deserves to be.'
