US President Donald Trump said in a social media post that Washington must sign a "new, improved, and modern" treaty with Russia instead of extending the New START nuclear arms reduction treaty. The treaty's validity has expired today. This expiration will effectively lift the last remaining restrictions on the world's two largest nuclear arsenals for the first time in over half a century.
