Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum stated that she has not received any signals that U.S. President Donald Trump is seeking to withdraw from the trilateral T-MEC agreement. "We don't believe it," she responded to journalists' questions during her morning press conference on Wednesday. Sheinbaum added that the issue has never been raised in phone calls because the trade treaty is very important for both Mexico and the United States. However, according to a Bloomberg publication, sources familiar with the matter claim that Trump is privately considering withdrawing from the North American trade agreement, asking his advisors why he shouldn't pull out of the deal. Nevertheless, it is specified that he has not yet directly stated that he will do so. Mexico maintains dialogue with Trump to continue oil shipments to Cuba without reprisals. The possibility of Trump also seeking bilateral agreements has been mentioned in media before, a scenario that Mexican business is exploring with increasing probability, adding more uncertainty ahead of the agreement's review scheduled for July. Asked about the progress Mexico has made in the ongoing dialogue in Washington, the president said that Economy Secretary Marcelo Ebrard will attend her morning briefing on Thursday to discuss the topic in greater detail.
