Trump Names Cuba Next Step in His Foreign Policy

US President Donald Trump announced that his next international move after the conflict with Iran will be Cuba, which he called "the cherry on the cake" of his foreign policy strategy. In an interview with Politico, he directly linked the humanitarian and energy crisis gripping Cuba to the US offensive against Iran and the prior decapitation of the Nicolás Maduro regime in Venezuela. "We cut off all the oil and all the money that was coming from Venezuela, which was the only source," the American president detailed, and emphasized that without Venezuelan support, the regime in Havana has been left in a critical situation. He cited the change of course in Venezuela following Maduro's detention last January as an example. In this regard, he highlighted that the current relationship with the head of the Chavist regime, Delcy Rodríguez, is "excellent" and that the South American country is functioning "fantastically" under the new US-led tutelage. Trump confirmed that contacts with Havana exist: "We are talking to Cuba. They need help."
