In a historic ruling issued last month, the Supreme Court declared those tariffs illegal. The US administration suffered another blow in the legal dispute over its tariffs, as a judge in the US International Trade Court in New York ruled that importers are entitled to reclaim the tariffs they have already paid, which the US Supreme Court had finally deemed illegal. The plaintiff in the case was a company from Tennessee. Relying on a 1977 emergency law, US President Donald Trump imposed tariffs on dozens of countries without congressional approval since the beginning of his second term in office.
